Why Salt Room Therapy?

Salt therapy, also known as halotherapy, is the ancient and natural process of breathing in air with micronized dry salt particles.  Halotherapy supports a variety of skin and respiratory conditions and promotes relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well being. Salt is antibacterial, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory, absorbing toxins and moisture in the respiratory tract.  Halotherapy is a relaxing and effective treatment environment for people of all ages.

Benefits of Halotherapy

The use of salt to heal ailments and improve health is an ancient practice. Dating back to ancient China, Egypt, Greece, and Rome, salt has been used for various remedies, rituals, protection and cures. In 460 B.C, Hippocrates began recommending salt inhalation as a respiratory treatment and would use natural salt and water on the skin to cure skin diseases. In the 1800's a Polish doctor noticed that while miners typically suffered from terrible health, the salt miners seemed to actually be healthier and had more vibrant skin than most other people. It opened a curiosity and practice which led to the halotherapy experience that you are experiencing today.

The salt particles have natural anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, which help reduce inflammation, clear mucus, and eliminate toxins and allergens from the respiratory tract. Beyond the physical effects of salt, the environment of a halotherapy session plays a significant role in wellness. Our salt room is quiet, dimly lit, and allergen-free, providing a meditative space to calm the nervous system. Additionally, salt releases negative ions, which may help balance serotonin levels, potentially improving mood and sleep quality.

Our space is considered an active salt room. During your treatment, your body and mind will receive the soothing and healing effects of this beautiful element we share the earth with. The time is being held for you. When the treatment is complete the fan will quiet and our staff will gently open the sliding door, queuing you to transition at your own pace back to the community space. So allow yourself to let go of your busy life and just come into being.
